There are many reasons to think about buying a new Ford Bronco Sport. This compact SUV has great handling, fantastic off-road ability, and tons of advanced features, and if you’re looking to do some towing, it won’t disappoint in that area, either.

How Much Can the Ford Bronco Sport Tow?

The base Ford Bronco Sport comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that produces 181 horsepower and 190 lb.-ft. of torque. When properly equipped, this will let you tow up to 2,000 pounds. If you go with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 250 horsepower and 277 lb.-ft. of torque, that tow rating climbs to 2,200 pounds.

What Does “Properly Equipped” Mean?

To do any serious towing, you will need to opt for the Class II Tow package. In addition to making your Ford SUV more tow-ready, this package also comes with a trailer sway control feature, which makes it a lot easier and safer to tow just about anything.

Towing with the Ford Bronco Sport

While it won’t be able to tow huge pieces of machinery or other big vehicles, your Ford Bronco Sport should be very capable of pulling things like small campers, trailers, or boats.

As mentioned, the Ford Bronco Sport has great off-road chops. The Badlands trim in particular is the one you want if your towing exploits take place off paved roads. It comes standard with a bigger engine, tow hooks, all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, and skid plates.
