New Ford Explorer Can Prevent Flat Tires

How many of us have been late to work because of a flat tire? Or had that scary moment when we have to pull over to the side of the highway to try and put on the spare ourselves, or wait who knows how long for help? Dealing with flats is a pretty universal experience for drivers, but Ford automakers have teamed up with Michelin® to try and minimize these experiences, or even prevent them entirely, in the new Ford Explorer. Shelbyville drivers who want to keep rolling despite a punctured tire will be able to do so this fall when the all-new 2020 Ford Explorer arrives. more So how does it work? It works thanks to the Michelin Selfseal ® tires, which have a unique system for preventing flats. The tires are lined with a rubber sealant, which can seal 90 percent of tread punctures that are a quarter-inch in diameter or less. If, for instance, a nail breaks through, the sealant surrounds it and helps close the puncture – and if the nail works its way back out, the sealant can even help with that as well. In practice, this means that air loss from your tire is slowed an incredible amount, allowing you to make it into work on time or keep your road trip on track. The Michelin Selfseal tires come standard on the 2020 Ford Explorer Platinum and 2020 Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid trims, and are available on other trims as well. The all-new Ford Explorer is the first SUV ever to come with Michelin Selfseal tires, and automakers are excited to help drivers avoid flat tire woes. We’re excited to bring this exciting new technology to local drivers, and you can learn more when you stop by to talk with an expert Ford dealer. Louisville drivers can find more new Ford tech at O’Brien Ford of Shelbyville.

Preparing Your Car for Spring

While we may have escaped some of the snow, there’s no denying it’s been a rough winter – rain, sleet, slush, more rain, and yes, some snow as well. But spring is on the way, and here at your Shelbyville used car dealership, we want to make sure your car is ready for better weather and long road trips. So get yourself ready for spring with some spring maintenance and spring cleaning for your car! more The maintenance part is easy to take care of at our Ford service center. You might want to start by having us take a look at your tires. Potholes and icy weather can wreak havoc with wheel alignment and tread, so this is the perfect time to decide if you need new tires, or get the ones you do have aligned. Cold weather can also be harmful to batteries, so let us take a look before you wind up with a dead battery when you’re rushing out the door to work one morning. We also want to make sure you’re ready for the warmer weather to come. That means taking a look at your AC system, as well as making sure your coolant levels are ready to keep your engine from overheating when the temperatures start rising. We also suggest taking a look at your brakes. Spring and summer often mean longer drives, and it’s important to make sure your brakes can keep you safe on the road. Once we take care of the hard part, all that’s left is some spring cleaning! Nothing helps your car look ready for the new season like washing off the road grit and vacuuming mud and salt from the interior. With the help of our Ford service center, you’ll be ready for spring in whatever you’re driving, from a used Ford sedan to a 2019 Ford Escape. Louisville, KY area drivers, and their vehicles can say goodbye to winter at O’Brien Ford of Shelbyville.

Test Drive Tips

If you ask a Shelbyville used Ford dealer at our dealership, they’ll tell you that most drivers are happy with their test drive. But they might also tell you that a lot of drivers aren’t getting the most of their test drive experience. That’s why today, we wanted to suggest some tips for creating a test drive checklist so you can be sure you’re taking advantage of your time on the road with one of our new or used Ford models. more Like most of the car buying process, thinking about your needs and wants is the first step in building a checklist. Are you planning on using a Ford SUV to take your kids to school, sports, and playdates? Or are you mostly anticipating driving yourself to and from work in a sedan? Are you a road trips kind of person, or mostly sticking to Shelbyville? You’ll want to make your test drive plan based on your answers. Commuters should try driving on roads similar to wear they work, road trip aficionados should try to get on the open highway, and carpool masters will want to experiment with features like adjustable seats and power liftgates. Which leads us to the next logical step, research. We suggest taking a little bit of time before your test drive to explore the features of the car you’ll be test driving. Maybe you’ve never used Ford Co-Pilot 360 before and want to make sure you check it out on your test drive. Or perhaps you know you’ll be doing a lot of parking in tight spaces, and want to experiment with Enhanced Active Park Assist. With a little preparation, we think you could have your best test drive ever, whether you’re interested in a heavy duty Ford truck or a 2018 Ford Taurus. Louisville, Lawrenceburg, and other Shelbyville area drivers can count on our staff to help them make the most of their test drive when they visit us at O’Brien Ford of Shelbyville.

2020 Ford Explorer ST and Hybrid Debut at Detroit Auto Show

The 2020 Ford Explorer has been making quite the splash lately. Ford automakers revealed the base model last week, and earlier this week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the 2020 Ford Explorer ST and 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid made their debut. While visitors to the Detroit auto show had a chance to see the new Ford Explorer, Shelbyville drivers don’t need to go all the way to Detroit to learn what to expect from the new trims. more So what will we see from the new Ford Explorer ST and Hybrid models? Thanks to its electric motor, which works with a 3.3-liter V6 engine, the hybrid trim promises drivers great fuel efficiency. And with a fuel tank that can hold 19.4 gallons, the model has an EPA-estimated range of 500 miles, making frequent stops for gas a thing of the past. And for those who need power and efficiency, the 2020 Ford Explorer hybrid has an impressive tow rating of 5,000 pounds. SEMA exhibitors are responsible for some of the most exciting technology in the world – and it’s those exhibitors who vote on the Vehicle of the Year awards. This year, three of the five award winners were Ford models. more The Ford F-Series was named Truck of the Year – marking the eighth time in the nine years the award has existed that this remarkable Ford truck has won. The Ford Focus, known for its performance trims, won the Sport Compact of the Year award for the fourth consecutive year, proving the model’s dominance in its segment. What to Do When Your Lease Ends

There are a lot of advantages to leasing a car. You get a great car at a price you can afford, you can upgrade regularly to new models, and you don’t have to worry about depreciation. But for many first time leasers, the end of the lease comes with a lot of questions. While you can always ask an expert Ford dealer about what’s next, we’ll cover the basics of what to expect right here. more The first step at the end of a lease is the inspection. We’ll get in touch around 90 days before the end of your lease to schedule the inspection. You don’t need to worry about the little stuff that’s a normal part of driving a car, but before the inspection is a good time to deal with any major problems or damage. It’s also helpful at this point to clean out the car of most of the mess and personal items in it. The next step before your lease period is up is to decide what you want to do next. Your leasing agreement probably comes with an option to buy your car at a set price, so you can choose to keep your vehicle if you really love it! She second is if you want to lease again, or purchase a new car. Once you’ve made your decision, our dealers can take care of the rest. When your lease is over, just bring in your old car with everything that came with it – like spare keys – and we’ll take care of the rest. 2019 Ford Ranger

All-New 2019 Ford Ranger Leads its Class

The all-new 2019 Ford Ranger is coming soon, and promises class-leading capabilities for drivers who want a truck that can get the job done. The impressive new Ford truck starts with a powerful engine, the 2.3 liter EcoBoost® that boasts 310 lb.-ft. of torque, higher than any other midsize pickups with gas engines. That power pairs with a 10-speed transmission, exclusive to its class, which gives drivers control over the truck’s capabilities and helps create a great driving experience. more In addition to class-leading torque, the 2019 Ford Ranger also leads the way when it comes to payload and towing. A maximum payload of 1,860 pounds means drivers can literally haul nearly a ton, whether it’s outdoor gear, work equipment, firewood, or more. As far as what you can bring behind you, the towing capabilities are even more impressive. A best-in-class towing capacity of 7,500 pounds will make it easy for drivers to get boats, campers, and trailers wherever they need to go. We’ve already talked about the intense testing the 2019 Ford Ranger has undergone to ensure its toughness, and the incredible capabilities make a perfect match with the truck’s proven endurance. Ford Ranger chief engineer Rick Bolt describes the truck by saying “think of Ranger as the biggest and most capable backpack for your gear.” Here at your Shelbyville Ford dealership, we’re pretty excited about this new “backpack,” which begins production this year for arrival in early 2019. We know that any Ford truck is something special, and we’re thrilled to be adding the all-new Ford Ranger to the line-up alongside old favorites like the Ford F-150. Use These Tips for a Better Dealership Experience

Every Ford dealer at our dealership works hard not just to be an expert in the cars we sell, but to give every driver who comes through the door a great experience. We want car buying to be an easy, exciting process and not a cause for stress. We know that’s what our customers want, so although we’ll keep working hard to make your dealership experience great, we wanted to share a few things you can do to help as well. more One of the most important things you can do for a smooth dealership experience is to come in knowing what you want, and what your budget is. If you know whether you want a 2019 Ford Escape or a 2019 Ford Edge, and what you can afford to pay for it, things will move much faster. That doesn’t mean you can’t have questions – maybe you need some answers before you decide which car, truck, or SUV is right for you. But a little preparation and research will help things move much faster at the dealership. Preparation will also help when it comes to families with kids, or drivers bringing a friend or family member along for a second opinion. It’s important to have someone to talk things over with, and we certainly want your children to weigh in on rear seat entertainment and comfort. But kids, friends, and anyone not directly involved in the car-buying process will probably get bored before you do. If you come prepared with toys, games, and books, you won’t have to stress about kids getting into trouble or friends tapping their toes waiting to leave. When you come to O’Brien Ford of Shelbyville, we want you to have a stress-free visit and move as quickly as possible to get you into a used Ford Focus or a 2018 Ford F-150. Louisville drivers can use a couple simple tricks to help us create a great dealership experience every time.

2018 Ford Edge_Ruby Red Driving

AI Helps Improve the 2019 Ford Edge

The new Ford Edge is almost here, and here at your Shelbyville Ford dealership, we’re eager for the arrival of the latest version of this popular SUV. While there’s a lot to be excited about in this new model, we wanted to talk about one particular feature that’s making waves: the all-wheel-drive disconnect. This system, a first from Ford automakers, uses a type of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the drive experience, reduce the use of fuel, and more. more So what exactly does the all-wheel-drive disconnect do? It starts with the high-tech sensors – dozens of them. These sensors, located all around the 2019 Ford Edge, relay information on everything from wheel slip to temperature to the system. The electronic “brain” receives the information and makes some lightning quick calculations far faster than any human could make them. It then decides in just a fraction of a second whether drivers need all-wheel drive, and turns it on if needed. That’s how it works – but what does that mean for drivers? For starters, it means you get the traction you need, when you need it. No more worrying about when to switch, or the stress of difficult driving if you’re a little too late with the all-wheel drive. Not only that, but this lightning fast response also saves drivers fuel! Because all-wheel drive is only active when needed and not longer, fuel consumption goes down. That’s not the only method for reducing fuel usage in the 2019 Ford Edge – features like deceleration fuel shutoff and exhaust gas recirculation contribute as well – but the all-wheel-drive disconnect is a big factor. This innovative and intelligent technology is just one of the reasons we’re excited about the 2019 Ford Edge. Louisville area drivers looking for a great SUV with some of the most exciting technology out there don’t have to go far! The 2019 Ford Edge will arrive at O’Brien Ford of Shelbyville soon, and our staff are excited to tell you more about this new SUV!
